Did we just become best friends?
Katie Lyke | Austin Lifestyle Family and Branding Photographer
Oh, hello there, I’m Katie!
I have learned a lot over the last decade being an Austin-based lifestyle family and branding photographer with Live Love Lyke Photography, and one of the biggest things is that when my clients feel like friends, there’s a level of comfort and ease that shows in the final images. And I want my clients to trust me, to feel 100% themselves with me, and to let the unstructured magic and everyday chaos of their story shine, because you know what? Authentic interaction and unadulterated joy sprinkled with a little messiness is real life, and that’s what I’m here for.
So, in the interest of speeding up the getting-to-know-you process so that we can accelerate our newfound friendship, I figured what better way to launch this blog on my little corner of the internet than sharing with you a bit about me. And while I could tell you that I’ve been in business for over a decade, or that I’ve lived in Texas for as long as I can remember, that I worked as a nurse for 15 years, or that being a mother to my five-years-old-next-week (cue the tears) daughter, Everly, has been simultaneously my greatest gift and also my biggest challenge, I thought I’d share with you five little fun things that I’d divulge if we were meeting up for happy hour and I really wanted you to know me.
Pull up your chair, new friend, because here we go!
I LOVE 90’s nostalgia and am (still) obsessed with the band Hanson. I’ve attended over thirty of their concerts and have literally traveled the world to see them play. This is a love that started in middle school and will never die.
I am an early riser–my body wakes me up between 4:30am and 5:00am each morning. I look forward to the quiet moments with hot coffee and Jesus, followed by getting at least one thing done off of my to-do list before the rest of the world wakes up.
Give me chips, salsa, and a really good frozen margarita on a patio somewhere on a nice day and I’ll be yours forever. Also, I am very particular about my frozen margs and I will not apologize for that–there are fewer things more disappointing in life than an overly icy, cloyingly sweet, not-enough-fresh-lime frozen margarita. My absolute favorite in Austin is here, with a close second here, and an honorable mention to the top shelf frozen here.
My favorite way to move my body is spin cycle classes (either in-person or on my Peloton) to VERY loud electronic dance music. I need this for my mental health, and can absolutely tell (as can my family) when I’m in need of a ride. Austin peeps, do yourselves a favor and take one of David’s classes at Love Cycle, and then tell me how much you love it and we can go together!
I pretty much live in a uniform of Lululemon-Align-dupe leggings (THESE are my favorites and THE EXACT SAME as the Lulu ones for less than a third of the price. YOU’RE WELCOME) and very oversized crewneck sweatshirts. Also, Gen Z said I can wear Ugg slippers as shoes so I’ve been all about that this season as well.
So now that we’re BFFs now, what should I know about you?
